The set of photos includes 295 items with resolution up to 3000 x 2200 px. This is the almost complete review of Stickley’s furniture collections. Most of interiors can be relevant to the colonial style. Once you mix different styles it may result in either something vulgar and inharmonic or new and vivid phenomenon. Colonial interior style is the case referred to the second case. Blend of the European accuracy and original flavor of Indian and Asian countries gave birth to a color eclectic style. As the name itself says, the colonial style originated back to the period of colonial captures by England, France, Spain and Portugal.
Few people who have ventured into the world of magnificent custom-made furniture have not heard of Stickley. Prized by such luminaries as George Lucas, Brad Pitt and Barbra Streisand, presented to the Dalai Lama, adorning palaces and embassies, this American Arts & Crafts "mission oak" furniture has, for more than a century, represented the finest in interior design.
From the time that American craftsman Gustav Stickley offered up to the world his first, highly distinctive piece of furniture, his standards were exceptionally high. His motto was to create handmade, simple, useful furniture with clean lines and purity of function "to the best of my ability," with every chair, table, desk and sideboard made with honour, integrity and pride.
Amazingly, Stickley furniture is crafted much as it was a century ago. In these pieces, you'll find no plastic, no nylon drawer guides, no thumbtacks, but rather mitre joints or tongue-and-groove glue joints, dovetailed crossrails and pinned mortise and tenon joinery on tables. Finishes are hand-applied in multiple layers of colour and lacquer; the final step is a careful, hand-rubbing process to create the perfect sheen.
